What Is Vaginal Tightening?Vagina tightening is just what it sounds like. It is surgery to make the vaginal canal, entrance, or both smaller or tighter. When a woman feels her vagina is loose or is no longer functioning at optimal levels, she doesn't have to accept it because it's "normal". She has options and alternatives. Many years ago, vaginal tightening was only available for women with medical issues like uterine, bladder or rectal prolapse. Nowadays, as awareness and education spreads, more and more women are electing to tighten their vagina (often referred to as vaginal rejuvenation). 3 Reasons Women Have Vagina Tightening SurgeryIn my experience, there are three reasons a woman may benefit from tightening her vagina. The first is if she is suffering from a bladder or uterine prolapse. This is where the bladder or uterus bulge into the vaginal canal. Vaginal tightening can help re-support the bladder and/or help with urine leakage or stress urinary incontinence. Likewise, rebuilding the perineum (space between the anus and vagina) can benefit women that suffer from rectal bulging into the vaginal canal. Tightening up the perineum can reduce the constipated pressure sensation and eliminate the need to use fingers to help with a bowel movement. And finally, many women may simply feel a loss of sensation or "loose" vaginal muscles. The stretching and trauma of childbirth can leave some women feeling bigger than before. Vaginal tightening can help put everything back into place and to create a "tighter" feeling vagina again. The women I have worked with have had one or more of these conditions. You'll sometimes see vaginal tightening being "sold" as better sex. In reality, better sex is usually a secondary benefit. Feeling normal again is what most women that have vaginal tightening are after. How To Tighten Your VaginaYou will see a lot of ads on the internet for vaginal tightening creams. And maybe if you are not really loose and have no structural damage, a cream might give you a temporary feeling of tightness. But if a cream could really tighten your vagina, then these surgeries wouldn't exist in the first place. If you have had multiple vaginal deliveries and are experiencing looseness and leakage, then surgery may be your only answer. Due to the nature of this procedure, I highly recommend you seek out a urogynecologist or cosmetic gynecologist with years of experience. Common Vaginal Tightening Questions
