What Is Labia Reduction?

A labia reduction is not very different than a labiaplasty.   It is the trimming of the labia minora (small inner lips) or the labia majora (larger hair-covered lips).

This procedure has been around for several years and has been used to help women with large labia.

These women experience discomfort due to the size of their labia or simply do not like the appearance of their vagina.

It can be done under local or general anesthesia.

The majority of these procedures are considered to be cosmetic.  But not all are.

For the women that experience pain or chaffing because of the extra tissue, a labia reduction reduces the size of the labia, improves the function and provides physical relief.

And insurance may help with the cost if issues are considered medical.

The change in appearance is a secondary benefit.

Other women also have hygiene issues due to the size of their labia.

It is not uncommon for some of these women to simply choose to remove all of the labia minora.

Ask your doctor to see if that is a good option for you.

Regardless of why you are looking to have a labia reduction, it is your right and your job to choose what is best for your body.
