What I Learned at The 6th Annual Congress on Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery

Earlier this month I was able to attend the 6th Annual Congress on Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery, otherwise known as CAVS.  The congress, held at the Ritz Carlton in Tuscon, AZ, was a meeting of cosmetic vaginal surgeons from across the U.S. and around the world.

The area was gorgeous and because I love what I do...it was not too much trouble for me to attend.  ;-)

Frankly, I was excited to go!  Last year's conference was written about in some popular publications like The Atlantic.  It was time to see what all the fuss was about with my own two eyes.

The idea behind the congress is to bring experts in the field of Cosmetic Gynecology together to share their expertise, and further the growth and development of Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery.

It was a great opportunity for me to see firsthand the quality of information being given by surgeons in this field and how it has an impact on you.

Speakers shared about different techniques, personal/professional experience, improving patient care, and developing effective business practices.

Most interesting, was seeing the divide that exists (and seems to be growing) among certain doctors.

Since this field is still relatively new and has no regulating or governing body, it also has no set requirements for the doctors offering these surgeries either.

Therefore some doctors promoted a specific "teacher" or training, while others simply stressed the importance of getting some adequate training.

And although the doctors did not always agree with one another, it was clear they all agreed on the importance of patient care, proper training, being conservative and selective when choosing their patients’.

The lesson for you is there are some passionate doctors specializing in vaginal rejuvenation and labiaplasty and helping others get better.

Unfortunately, there are still thousands of doctors out there, with no experience or training experimenting on you.

They all look the same when they stand in their office next to their degrees.  It is our responsibility to continue to do our research, to ask questions and validate that they actually know what they are doing, ;-)

In the end, the conference was a fantastic experience.  Meeting and interacting further with other top surgeons, only strengthened my dedication to helping you get the information you need to make the best decisions for you!

There are doctors that are really committed to providing you the best care, results and legitimizing the Cosmetic Gynecology field.  And then, there are those that just want to get paid.

Through knowledge and diligence you can avoid the latter and prevent another botched surgery!

Remember, you are not alone.  If you have questions or want an unbiased second opinion, just ask.
