| Labiaplasty Horror Stories (Labiaplasty Gone Wrong) |
|
After working in the cosmetic gynecology field for quite some time, you get to see all sorts of things. One of the most terrifying things I saw was a labiaplasty gone wrong. And I am not talking about one or two either. The doctor I worked for was one of the most experienced in the world when it came to these procedures, so it was no surprise to have women from all over the world come see her. Some times it was for a consultation or surgery, other times it was to correct a botched labiaplasty they had done somewhere else for a "really good price". In working with these women one thing became abundantly clear to me, this is one area of your body you don't want to take any chances with. Even if you have to pass up a great price. The truth is no matter how inexpensive a doctor's rate can be, the price of a labiaplasty is not nearly as important as the experience of the surgeon and the quality of their work. One of my patient's said she had gone to L.A. and paid $3,000 USD for the procedure, thinking she was getting a bargain and going to get a "cheap labiaplasty". Unfortunately, since her doctor was inexperienced he butchered her labia and she ended up having to pay twice to have it corrected. And not just financially! So whether you are curious, considering or certain you are going to have a labia reduction, my advice to ALL you ladies out there is find an expert and qualified doctor in this field. Meet with several different doctors before choosing. See plenty of before and after pictures of their work. And ask plenty of questions. In the long run, not only will it really save you money, it will also save you from the pain and embarrassment that comes with shoddy work! This video does a better job of explaining the consequences. Lastly, if you've had a botched labiaplasty surgery, the good news is, it usually can be fixed. I can not stress enough how important it is for you to find a qualified specialist to perform your labiaplasty surgery the FIRST time! Warning: Graphic Sexual Content. 18+ Only!

i had just got my suregey done and it looked soo good while it was healing but one side the stitches totally split. i got them re-stitched but after a week it split again. The doctor said they didnt want to stitch it back up due to the fact that the skin was hard and it could heal on it own, but now its been a month and half and that side that split looks way different from the other side. it looks like one side i dont have any labia minora and the other side i do and its just been cut in half. I doont know what i should do.. Please give me some advice anyone....

Thank you for your question. In being brave enough to comment and ask for advice, you empower others to do the same.
The good news is this sounds like something that can be corrected. However, given what you have said, I would be a little leery of returning to the same doctor. It is not normal for your stitches to come undone once, let alone two times. Either your doctor was careless, or you did not follow all of the post-operation instructions. So perhaps going to another doctor for a revision (to correct the different labia) might be a better idea. A skilled surgeon should be able to even up your labia. Always ask these questions to be certain your doctor is qualified. And you must make sure you are allowing your body the appropriate time to heal after a labiaplasty. No sex, no exercise or strenuous activity!

I recently had labiapasty of the minora and its been two weeks. My clit has been stitched to the hood on the right side. I am not kidding. I saw a plastic surgeon, paid a small fortune, and followed his post recovery instructions to a tee. I was NOT ever expecting my clitoris to be at risk. If this cannot be fixed, I truly don't see a reason to go on. Have you ever heard of such a thing, and how the hell does a gynecologist/surgeon manage to do this?

Hi Sara, thank you for contacting me.
Yea, I have heard of something similar before. Where did you have the surgery done? In the U.S? Also was your doctor a plastic surgeon or a cosmetic gynecologist? Different training is required and one may have more real life experience than the other. You said it has been 2 weeks, have you seen your doctor since for him to correct this? He should be able to, unless he really is inadequate (i.e. lacks experience and proper training). If that is the case, you have the option of seeking another doctor that actually specializes in these procedures or has the appropriate skill. Also, since it is only a revision, the cost should be significantly less. Hope this helps. Otherwise, do not hesitate to contact me again!

I had my labiaplasty done exactly 2 weeks ago, and my stitches came undone too. It's been a nightmare! My surgeon is acting really non-chalant about it, saying it will eventually heal on it's on... but I'm really not confident in him. He says stitches opening is not very common, so I don't think he has enough experience in that to reassure me that it will eventually heal properly
I'm concerned that even if it does heal (whether it's in 6 months or 1 year from now), that it will tear open again during sex. Your post was from August... Can you give us an update on how it healed so far?

Hi Mimi,
Thank you for contacting me and having the courage to seek help. Do not worry. Regardless of what has transpired you have options. You are not the first woman to have this or something similar to this happen (not that that makes it any easier, I know). Good news is there are some excellent doctors out there that can help you. Depending on where you're located. You can see one that specializes in revisions or in these procedures. This way you can get a second professional opinion, know what has happened and get the reassurance you need. Once you have been physically assessed, you can determine what is the next best step for you. If you do need a revision, most doctors will not want to proceed until after you have healed (so they know what exactly they will be working with). Remember you are not alone. Please contact me again if you have other questions or to let me know how I can help.

Hi,
I had surgery 4 days ago. The reduction is huge much more has been taken off then i expected. The right side is fine however the left is very small and there is barely anything there at all. My doctor said it was due to swelling that the right side looked bigger but a few days have passed and this is not the case as there is next to no skin on the left side. I am currently in a state of shock as i just kept thinking it will get better over time but i know at this stage you should see how it is going to heal. Having them so small also draws attention to my clitoral hood making it stand out against the labia. Please advise on what can be done from here whether skin can be attached to the smaller side or would the right side have to be trimmed down? please help.

If i do it now and get married at 24 will it last that long or should I only get it closer to marriage?

Hi,
I am thinking about getting a labiaplasty and had thought of traveling to Atlanta to see a doctor out there but I want to know if there is a website where I can access the credentials of a doctor (Dr John Miklos and Dr Robert Moore). They seem legit and experienced but traveling to Atlanta from New York is going to make my surgery costs alot more expensive and i want to make sure its going to be worth it. PLEASE HELP!
