| Can I Lose Sensation From A Labiaplasty? |
|
It is safe to say that after working as a vaginal rejuvenation consultant for years and talking with hundreds of women before and after their procedure, loss of sensation after a labiaplasty should be a concern, but is not common. In fact, I have never heard of that happening to any of the women I have worked with. Can it happen? Sure. However, unlike breast augmentation (where loss of sensitivity in the nipple is quite normal), a labiaplasty is simply reducing the size of the labia. Nothing foreign is being inserted into the body. Most women having these procedures have abnormally large and excess tissue. So if you are concerned with losing sensation during/after a labia reduction, my advice is to seek an experienced surgeon in this procedure to avoid the possibility. This is not a part of your body you want to trust to an amateur. And keep in mind these days any medical doctor can perform cosmetic surgery, even a dentist. It's a safe bet that the more experienced the surgeon, the less likely it is you'll experience a loss of sensation or other complications. Risks of a labiaplasty can be minimized when you deal with a doctor that knows what he/she is doing, bottom line. In my experience, I have not seen loss of sensation. In fact, women have told me it increased sensitivity and helped improve sex. Though every woman and your body is different. You should be aware of all risks and possible complications. Your doctor's experience and knowledge should be critical in your decision making process. Do not hesitate to express your concerns and to let them know exactly what you want. This is your body. You deserve to get the best! Have questions about your doctor? Ask me. Tags:

Is it possible to have heightened sensation? I had my procedure done a week ago and although I'm in discomfort and pain I have a constant feeling of arousal in my genitalia. I'm not a highly sexed person so this is really unusual for me. Obviously I can't act on it as the area is healing and painful but just wondered if you had ever heard of this?

Hi K, yes it is quite possible for the reduction of the labia to cause heightened arousal. Have certainly heard of this happening before.
In fact, some women reduce the clitoral hood in conjunction with a labiplasty for aesthetic and arousal reasons. The hood reduction causes the clitoris to be more accessible. This can definitely enhance sensitivity and stimulation. Hope this helps! Glad to hear things are going well for you...
