The Vaginal Rejuvenation Smear Campaign

As most women do their research on vaginal rejuvenation, then often across an article or two that are overly harsh regarding the surgery.

The main points the author usually makes are the following:

  • The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists does not approve of the surgery and in fact is concerned that it may lead to a reduced sensation in the vaginal region.
  • There is no scientific or medical "proof" that vaginal rejuvenation actually improves sexual gratification.
  • There are women who have had a bad experience with vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty and may even feel they have been disfigured.
  • That widespread viewing of pornography has women feeling inadequate about themselves and that is why they choose these surgeries.
  • Vaginal rejuvenation exists because doctors are marketing it, not because there is a need for it.

This article from Self magazine is one such piece.

I have addressed most of these points in other blog posts or elsewhere on the site, so I won't completely redo it here.

But the main point I want to get across to you is that the "proof is in the pudding" so to say.

What do I mean?

These articles are usually written by somebody that is completely out of touch with the actual woman who gets this surgery.  Of course vaginal rejuvenation is not for everybody, but it has helped a lot of women.

The demand is what has driven this industry, not the doctors marketing.  Most of the women I talked to wished they had heard of these surgeries sooner, and were thrilled once they learned they were available.

And while there is no "medical" proof that these surgeries work, there are plenty of women that say that they do.  The medical proof will come in time as more studies are done.

The main reason I run this site is to help women find the vaginal rejuvenation and labiaplasty information they are looking for.

It is absolutely true that you could have a botched surgery if you don't do your homework on the surgeon, but that is true of any type of cosmetic surgery.

But don't let these articles keep you from following your heart.  Only YOU will know if it is right for you.

My favorite part from the self article was this quote from Abby, a 31 year-old vaginal rejuvenation patient from Colorado:

The pain was worth it, Abby says, as today with the increased friction "my sex life is definitely better. People say these kinds of surgeries demean women, but for me it was completely selfish and self-serving. I don't get the controversy around this. If people don't want to get it done, they don't have it. But it's there for them if they do."

Like I said, the proof is in the pudding, and only you will know if it is right for you!
