Questions to Ask Your Vaginal Rejuvenation & Labiaplasty Doctor

Labiaplasty and vaginal rejuvenation are almost always considered to be elective cosmetic procedures.

That means you don't "need it", you want it and most likely not for medical reasons.

Therefore, the likelihood of insurance covering a labia reduction or vaginal rejuvenaiton is slim unless deemed "medically necessary" by your doctor.

Now can be good and bad for you.

On the one hand, there is very little regulation in the cosmetic surgery world.  Which means that competition reigns!

Leaving you room to negotiate and seeing any doctor you choose.

But this can also mean higher risk.  It becomes increasingly difficult to know who is a good doctor and who isn't.

In my travels around the world, I've actually seen doctors operating less than 20 feet from a bar!

Really hope that makes you think twice, but I know some of you are still looking for the lowest price.

If your doctor is performing out of a hospital or surgery center, you can assume that at least a couple of people have verified some credentials.

But does this mean they are a quality surgeon?

Now if your doctor is operating out of a private office, you don't know much more than whatever they tell you.

Make no doubt about it.  The biggest decision you'll make once you've chosen the surgery is who will perform it.

Especially these days when almost anybody can do it!

As a vaginal surgery consultant, my opinion is that the following are questions every woman should be asking your potential surgeon (and why).

  • How many vaginal rejuvenation procedures have you done?
(You are looking for for experience.  More surgeries doesn't guarantee a better result, but it does mean your doctor is not practicing on you!)
  • How many years have you been performing labiaplasty and/or vaginal rejuvenation surgery?
(Similar to #1, the more years they've been performing the surgery, the longer track record you have to go off of.)
  • What are your credentials and/or training in labiaplasty and/or vaginal rejuvenation?
(You can get great results from a plastic surgeon or a cosmetic GYN doctor.  The important thing is to know who you are dealing with.)
  • Will you use a scalpel or laser to perform the surgery?
(Each has it's advantages and disadvantages.  You can get great results with both tools.)
(Do you know the difference?  Do you understand the risks?)
  • Where does the surgery take place?
(Hospital or in-office.  You can get a great surgery from either one, but you should understand the difference between the two.)
  • What is the average number of women you operate on monthly?
(You want somebody who performs these procedures on a regular basis, period.)
(Any reputable surgeon will have plenty of testimonials and before and after pictures.  Anything less and you're putting yourself at risk.)
  • Do you offer a free consultation and physical examination?
(Consultations are not always free.   If they don't examine your entire physical well being, be cautious.  You want a doctor that has your best interest in mind!)
  • What is included in the price?
(Does their price quote include the lab work, anesthetic, facility, follow up visit, and doctor's fees?  Again, most reputable doctors will spell this out for you upfront.)
  • Do you include a free touch-up?
(Some doctors do back their work and include it in price. Find out under what conditions the doctor will see you again.)

Again, this is an important decision and a part of you that requires special attention.  Take your time to find the best doctor to meet your needs.

There are a lot of doctors out there.  It's up to you to find one that is capable of giving you the results you desire.

You do NOT want to have your own horror story to tell.

Still need help?  Let me know.
