Vaginal Rejuvenation in Philadelphia

Recently I found an interesting and fairly unbiased article over at Philly.com discussing how vaginal surgeries such Labiaplasty and vaginal tightening have tripled since 2005.

It seems that despite the recession and cut backs in discretionary spending, women are still investing in their bodies and themselves.

"The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported fewer than 800 vaginal rejuvenations in 2005. By 2009, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery tallied more than 2,500."

The article acknowledges that women have different motives for electing to have these procedures.

What was refreshing to hear is that, it wasn't the doctors or cosmetic surgeons that started to market or push these corrective surgeries as vaginal "rejuvenation" or better sex, it was the patients!

Truth be told, vaginal tightening has been around for decades.  However, only gynecologists could perform them and they were done to correct pelvic floor issues or uterine prolapse and stress urinary incontinence associated with multiple vaginal deliveries/trauma to the vagina.

In addition to correcting these dysfunctions, women that had the 'tightening' done, started experiencing noticeably better sex!

Consequently, surgeons and doctors started listening to the overwhelming cheers and rave reviews from the women and decided to specialize in these procedures in order to bring these benefits to ALL women (not just women with bowel or bladder problems).

And that's how Vaginal Rejuvenation was born.  There was no longer an insurance company dictating whether or not a woman had "valid" medical need for the restoration of her femininity and body.

So even though insurance companies do not recognize vaginal rejuvenation or sexual dysfunction among woman (unlike erectile dysfunction), it is changing and improving the lives of millions of women and is now an option for all.
